Hillman Brown has been involved within the Utility Transfer Market as independent advisors for quite some time. It's advisors are all trained to a very high standard as reccommended by "Energysure". Furthermore, all activities involving Utility Transfer are regulated by the industries regulater "OFGEM.

With our involvement of Domestic/Home Insulation, utility transfer is a natural extension to achieving further savings once a customers home has had insulation measures undertaken. We take great care in advising our customers of just how much they can expect to save on their "pence per KWh prices" as opposed to suggesting they can reduce their Monthly Direct Debit by exagerrarted amounts without considering what they are actually paying for each KWh of energy they consume.

In order to determine the savings a customer can save, our advisors will first discuss and identify the most appropriate energy package that best suits each customer based on their annual consumption figures of both Gas and Electricity. Once the most suitable package has been identified, the advisor will explain the difference in the cost difference of the "pence per KWh" between their existing supplier and that of the proposed new supplier. However, not everything is purely based on "a cheaper price" as "Customer Service" also plays a large part in the decision making process to change your utilitity supplier.

ADDITIONAL WAYS TO REDUCE ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND INCREASE SAVINGS

                                  TOP 10 ENERGY SAVING TIPS

You will be amazed how easy it is to save energy and money. Here are our top 10 tips for saving you money and valuable energy. Most of them are common sense, but there might still be one or two you hadn't thought of .....

1. INSULATION

Why loose up to 35% of the heat from your home through the walls and up to another 25% through the roof when you could install cavity wall and loft insulation ? You could save £115.00* on your heating bills by installing cavity wall insulation and £45.00* a year by topping up the insulation in your loft.

2. HEATING

Turn down the thermostat on your heating boiler by just 1oC and you'll cut your fuel bills by 10%. You'll notice the saving, but not the drop in temperature.

3. HOT WATER

Insulating your hot water cylinder with a lagging jacket should pay for itself within months! Nip in the shower rather than filling a bath, and take a close look at your cylinder thermostat - there's no need for it to be set higher than 60oC/140oF.

4. LIGHTING

Energy saving light bulbs last up to 10 times longer than ordinary light bulbs and could save you £40.00 over the lifetime of just one bulb.

5. COOKING

Keep a lid on it - the saucepan that is ! Use just enough water to cover vegetables, not a pan full. Try using the microwave rather than the oven - that'll save money too.

6. WASHING

Washing at 30oC uses about 40% less electricity than at a higher temperature. Try to wash full loads. If you can't, use a half load or economy programme instead.

7. APPLIANCES

Look out for the energy efficiency rating whenever you buy new appliances. "A" rated appliances are the most efficient and cheapest to run. Switching to an Energy Saving Recommended washing machine could cut your energy use by up to a third compared to an older washing machine.

8. DON'T STANDBY - SWITCH OFF

The lazy option costs Great Britain nearly £1 Billion worth of energy each year. Leaving appliances on standby, for example - tv's, video's, digital recorders, mobile phone chargers etc, is costing you money so stretch a little and save a lot by turning them off.

9. CURTAIN UP

Shutting the curtains, especially lined ones and tucking them behind radiators under the window will stop heat escaping through the window.

10. DEFROST THE FREEZER

Yes, by defrosting the freezer every 6 months, it will run more efficiently and save you more money into the bargain.
